Eden Collection

The Eden Backgammon Set was one of my first projects at Jonathan Adler. I spent time studying the compositions of vintage Hermès scarves and how the illustrations of chains and belts scattered across the silk. The snakes weave through the triangles with the same spirit as those scarves, creating a sense of depth. With the success of the backgammon set, I was tasked with expanding the collection to stacking lacquer boxes, trays, coasters, and pottery. With the newer items, the color palette shifted from the ivory, black, and red of the original backgammon design, to a punchy orange, a primary yellow, deep blue, and celadon. The snake compositions became more fluid as well, covering the full surface and spilling off the edges of boxes and trays. Pieces from this collection have been featured in numerous publications, including Clever (June 2023), ELLE Decoration Netherlands (August 2023), Grazia UK (April 2021), Esquire (December 2022), and ET online (September 2023).
